Up until his recent retirment, David Appleford had reported on films and theatre at radio and TV stations around the country for more than thirty-five years. Originally from England, where he wrote, performed, and directed for local regional theatre, David moved to the United States in 1982. He worked as an announcer in radio and television, writing and reporting local arts for stations in Charlotte, North Carolina; Indianapolis, Indiana; San Diego, California; Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and for KEZ FM radio in Phoenix, Arizona. David also wrote film and theatre reviews plus several entertainment related articles for local magazines. He has also performed with theatre groups in Charlotte, North Carolina and on the stage in Indianapolis.
He is a published playwright and won several entertainment awards, including Best Film and Theatre Reviewer, Indianapolis Monthly Magazine. He was also a winning finalist in the national section of the Annual New Screenplay Awards at the Phoenix Film Festival.
Until announcing his retirement from covering the Phoenix film and theatre beat, David was a member of the Phoenix Critics Circle, the nationally associated American Theatre Critics Association and the International Association of Theatre Critics
